Pricing and Licensing FAQs Last updated: 2026-09-30
Every plan includes ediFabric .NET, ediFabric Native and ediFabric Cloud with one serial key. Plans differ in how many operations you can run, in how many environments, whether you can go to production, and how the license is checked.
Prices are in US dollars. The pricing page has the full comparison and the checkout links.
Plans at a glance
| Plan | Price | Operations | Leased seats | Production |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Community | $0, forever | 250 per day in total, across .NET, Native and Cloud | 3 | No |
| Developer | $179 per year | Unlimited on your machines. 3,000 Cloud operations per month, then $0.01 each | 3 | 1 environment you own |
| Enterprise | $799 per year | Unlimited on your machines. 25,000 Cloud operations per month, then $0.008 each | Unlimited | Unlimited environments you own |
There are three other ways to buy:
- Perpetual, $2,950 once. Everything in Enterprise except hosted Cloud. The serial key never expires, product updates and support are included for one year, then $600 per year to stay current. Sold to legal entities only, not to one-person consultancies.
- OEM, from $4,500 per year. A rider on an Enterprise plan that adds commercial redistribution rights, with one derived serial key per end customer. Quoted on customer count.
- Cloud only, $0.01 per operation. The hosted ediFabric Cloud API without a .NET or Native license. The first 1,000 operations each month are free, there is no platform or subscription fee, and private custom EDI models are included.
Which plan should I choose?
Start on Community to evaluate and build your integration; it never expires. Move to Developer when you need production use in one environment, or license checks that keep working through a network outage. Move to Enterprise when you need more than three leased seats, air-gapped hosts, or license tokens that never contact us.
Do I have to choose between .NET, Native and Cloud?
No. Every plan includes all three. Pick a plan by how many leased seats you need, whether it is production, and whether your hosts can reach the internet. The Products FAQs compare the three products.
Where is the free trial?
Community is the trial, and it never expires, so you can take as long as your integration takes. It has full functionality apart from the daily quota and the ban on production use.
Enterprise also has a 14-day trial, because unlimited leased seats and Cloud volume are the things Community cannot demonstrate. Developer has no separate trial: upgrade from Community by swapping the serial key.
What is an operation?
A single parse, generate, validate or acknowledge call, no matter how many transactions are in the payload. On Developer and Enterprise, operations on your own machines are unlimited and only Cloud calls are metered. Cloud requests are capped at 3 MB each.
Is the 250 operations a day per product or in total?
In total. Community gives you one quota per account, and calls from .NET, Native and Cloud all count against the same 250 per day.
How are ediFabric Cloud operations billed?
Developer includes 3,000 Cloud operations per month and charges $0.01 for each one after that. Enterprise includes 25,000 per month and charges $0.008 after that. On Community, Cloud calls count towards the 250 operations a day. Cloud only has the first 1,000 operations each month free, then $0.01 per operation.
Your usage report is on your account page; see how to monitor your usage.
What is a leased seat?
A seat leased to a single environment. Threads inside one process do not each take a seat, and neither do developers or CPU cores. Community and Developer lease 3 seats, and Enterprise is unlimited.
Once you are at your limit and a new environment authenticates, the oldest lease is released and handed over to it. That rollover happens only if the oldest lease was taken on an earlier day, so moving between environments day to day needs no intervention from us.
If every seat was leased today there is nothing to roll over, so the new environment is refused until 24 hours have passed. Enterprise avoids this altogether, because offline tokens are not leased.
Can I use ediFabric in production?
On a paid plan. Community is for non-production use only. Developer allows production in one environment you own, and Enterprise and Perpetual in unlimited environments you own.
How is the license validated?
Community validates online on every operation. Developer validates online and caches the result for one day, per process, so a temporary outage or a long batch does not stop your job. Enterprise uses offline tokens with no callback at all; you get the tokens online or by email.
Can I run in an air-gapped or offline environment?
With Enterprise only. Enterprise issues offline tokens that never contact us, with a 30-day lifetime by default and 90 or 180 days on request. During the Enterprise trial, offline tokens are available with a 1-day token lifetime, which changes to 30 days after purchase.
Can I combine plans?
Paid plans cannot be stacked: you cannot hold Developer and Enterprise at the same time, or Developer and Perpetual, or Enterprise and Perpetual. Pick one paid plan; every plan already includes .NET, Native and Cloud (Perpetual excludes hosted Cloud).
Community can be combined with every plan. The only other combinations are:
- Enterprise and OEM. OEM is a rider and always requires an Enterprise plan.
- Perpetual and Cloud only. Perpetual covers .NET and Native, so Cloud only is how you add the hosted API.
Can I ship ediFabric inside a product I sell?
Redistributing ediFabric as part of a product you sell needs the OEM rider on top of Enterprise. It includes derived serial keys for your end customers, so they never handle yours. The license agreement has the full terms.
Can I process EDI for other companies?
Yes. Processing other companies' EDI as a service is included in Developer and Enterprise, and in Perpetual for .NET and Native. On Developer it is still capped by 3 leased seats and one production environment you own. Service bureau means processing third-party EDI on hosts you operate, with ediFabric .NET, Native or a self-hosted Cloud API. It does not let you resell our hosted Cloud as a competing translation API.
How will I receive my serial key?
Once your order is complete, sign in to your account with the email address you used for the purchase and copy the serial key from the account page. The steps are in Your account.
How do I upgrade from Community or change plans?
Buy the new plan and replace the serial key in your application. Upgrading is always a key swap, with no reinstall or code changes.
How do renewals work, and does my serial key expire?
Developer and Enterprise renew automatically, provided the payment method on record has sufficient funds, so keep your billing details up to date. If you cancel, the serial key stops working when the term ends.
Perpetual serial keys never expire. Maintenance is $600 per year after the first year and is only needed for further updates and support. Contact us at support@edifabric.com for a multi-year maintenance discount.
We reserve the right to suspend or reset serial keys if a leak is reported.
Can I buy as an individual?
Community and Developer are available to individuals. Perpetual licenses are sold only to legal entities that are not one-person consultancies, and the order must use a company email address. Public and disposable email addresses are declined.
What payment methods do you accept?
Credit and debit cards online, through Stripe. For a bank transfer, request an invoice at office@edifabric.com. Customers in the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the UK can also pay against a purchase order; send a quote request to office@edifabric.com.
Note
We do not accept checks.
How do I update my billing details or cancel?
From the account page, select Manage Billing to change the payment method, download invoices or cancel the plan. See how to update your billing method and how to cancel your subscription.
Can I get a refund?
Yes. There is a 14-day money-back guarantee: if ediFabric is not the right fit, you get a full refund, no questions asked.
What support is included?
Community has the EDI forum. Developer and Enterprise include Standard support for the duration of the plan: 3 incidents a year with a 72-hour response time. Enterprise can add Priority support, with unlimited incidents and a 24-hour response time, for one year. Perpetual includes support for the first year, and OEM includes Standard support for the main licensee. The support page has the full terms.
Is ediFabric suitable for HIPAA or SOC 2 regulated data?
ediFabric .NET and ediFabric Native run inside your own application, on your own hardware. No EDI data and no PHI ever reaches us, so they sit entirely within the controls you already have in place.
The hosted ediFabric Cloud is not HIPAA or SOC compliant: all EDI data is sent to our service to be processed, so it is not suitable for PHI or other regulated data. For regulated data, use .NET or Native, or build the same REST API with ediFabric and host it on your own infrastructure; the libraries are included in every plan.
